FSU holds off the upset-minded Terps

The Maryland Terrapins came into Tallahassee on Saturday without their top two quarterbacks, but still gave the Seminoles everything they could in this ACC matchup. The Terp's Brandon Ross ran for 129 yards on the ground, but it wasn't enough to overcome the turnover-prone Seminoles in Doak Campbell Stadium.
Jameis Winston threw for 323 yards and 3 touchdowns, but was intercepted on a tipped pass and fumbled the ball twice, one of which was returned for a touchdown in the third quarter. Karlos Williams provided a spark to the struggling run game, breaking free for a 71-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, the longest from any of the running backs so far this season. Rashad Greene hauled in 7 passes for 84 yards and 2 touchdowns and Kelvin Benjamin caught a 35-yard pass from Winston late in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Defensively, the Noles struggled to contain the run game from the Terps. Although Brandon Ross didn't have a single run over 20 yards, he continued to gash the defense all day. Terrance Brooks led the Noles with 8 tackles and Ronald Darby and Lamarcus Joyner each intercepted the Terp's freshman quarterback.
