Weekly Report Posted: November 05, 2013 16:33
The Seminoles hold on to their #1 ranking with a resounding 62-17 victory over Idaho which saw Christian Jones set an NCAA record for sacks in a game with 8 in total. It was a dominant performance on both sides of the ball as Florida State strengthened their hold on the top ranking.
Virgina Tech and Oklahoma State also received first place votes in the USA Today coaches poll, both of whom are also undefeated. Oklahoma rounds out the last of the undefeated. Oklahoma State and Oklahoma will play each other in Week 15 for the Big 12 Title and most likely a berth in the National Championship. FSU will play Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship game, and the winner will most likely play in the National Championship also.
Jameis Winston is still the favorite to win the Heisman, but some other Seminoles have made some noise in the races for other awards. Lamarcus Joyner is a favorite to win the Bednarik and Thorpe awards, but PJ Williams and Tyler Hunter are also in the hunt. Bryan Stork is a favorite to win the Rimington award and Timmy Jernigan is in the front for the Lombardi award. Karlos Williams has separated himself from the pack in the race for the Best Returner award with almost 1000 return yards this season.

Florida State spears the Gators in the Swamp
Facing their final test before conference championship week, Florida State went to Gainesville and crushed the #18 Florida Gators 31-3 in a resounding victory to reclaim their spot as the top football program in the state of Florida. The FSU defense intercepted Florida QB Tyler Murphy 3 times and held the Gator offense to only a field goal on the day.
Jameis Winston, facing his toughest test of the year versus the dangerous Florida defense, was intercepted twice on the day, but spurred the Noles when the run game wasn't effective early. He hit Nick O'Leary and Kenny Shaw for touchdowns in the second quarter and then lead a 60 yard drive before halftime that ultimately lead to a Roberto Aguayo field goal to give the Noles a 24-3 lead at halftime.
Lamarucus Joyner sparked the Florida State defense early when he forced a fumble on Florida's first possession. He then intercepted Murphy's pass on their next drive and took it to the endzone for the first points on the day. Terrance Smith and Telvin Smith combined to stop the run game in the middle and Christian Jones, one game removed from his record-setting performace against Idaho, accounted for 3 tackles and one sack on the day.
