Huge Weekend for FSU Recruiting

If a conference win wasn't enough for the Seminoles, FSU received verbal commitments from two of the 5-star prospects that it was targeting: 5-star wide receiver Robert Richardson and 5-star athlete Dominique Dukes.
Richardson, a 6'6" wide receiver from Dunedin, Florida, was arguably Florida State's biggest recruiting target this season. With some uncertainty at wide receiver for next season, Richardson's commitment should ease the worries of Coach Jimbo Fisher. Richardson, the #5 wide receiver in the country, had said last week that his final top three were FSU, Michigan, and LSU. His commitment to the Noles comes before his official visit on November 2nd, when the Seminoles host Miami.
Dominique Dukes, the #14 athlete in ESPN's rankings, should come as no surprise to those who follow FSU recruiting. Dukes, who is projected to be either a running back or wide receiver for the Noles, was always very high on FSU from the beginning. At 6'2" and 213 pounds, Dukes should find his way into the rotation as an offensive weapon, whether that be running the ball or catching it.
FSU now has a total of four 5-star prospects committed, including 5-star defensive end Danny Seals, who committed in the offseason, and 5-star safety Chris White, who committed after the Nole's first home game.
Also committing to the Noles were 4-star tight end Lamar Bell and 2-star fullback Brian Leonard.
Bye Week Report: Recruting Part 1

With Florida State on a bye this week before their big game with Clemson, it's a good time to look at the recruiting situation around the country. Florida State is hauling in an impressive class, so we're going to take a look at both who the Noles are bringing in next year as well as where other top recruits are going (Part 2).
Florida State currently has 13 commitments in its 2014 class, which leads the country. Let's break down the four 5 Star recruits that have committed and give a sneak peak as to what their role might be next year in Tallahassee.
1: Robert Richardson
Position: Wide Receiver
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 225 lbs
Prestige: 5 Stars
Position Rank: 5
National Rank: 18
Breakdown: Robert Richardson is one of the top wide receivers in the nation and possibly the biggest wide receiver recruit to commit to the Noles in recent years. Richardson's height makes him a natural mismatch for any defensive back matched up against him and he possesses a great instinct for where the football is. With the depth chart at wide receiver for next year far from complete, Richardson could make an immediate impact for the Noles from the beginning.
2. Dominique Dukes
Position: Athlete
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 213 lbs
Prestige: 5 Stars
Position Rank: 14
National Rank: 33
Breakdown: A rare Florida State commitment out of Louisiana, Dukes projects to be either a wide receiver or running back at the college level, but most likely the latter. While Dukes doesn't have the have the talent to be an elite back right out of the gate, the Noles have depth at the position so he will be given time to learn the position.
3. Chris White
Position: Safety
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 179 lbs
Prestige: 5 Stars
Position Rank: 1
National Rank: 17
Breakdown: Chris White, the top ranked safety (either free or strong), committed to Florida State over Georgia early on. The Noles boast one of the best secondaries in the country, but are very young. With several seniors graduating, White has an opportunity to jump right into action on defense next year.
4. Danny Seals
Position: Defensive End
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 242 lbs
Prestige: 5 Stars
Position Rank: 1
National Rank: 24
Breakdown: With Danny Seals' verbal commitment, Florida State continues to bring in top-level defensive ends. Seals is a natural pass rusher and has the talent to become a big time defensive end for the Seminoles. Unfortunately, the Noles are stacked at defensive end, so Seals might have to wait for his time.
Bye Week Report: Recruting Part 2

The second part of our recruiting report focuses on where the top recruits in the country have committed and who the top schools are for those that haven't made their decision yet. Seven weeks into the season, there are a good number of big recruits that have decided on where they are going to play college ball.
When we talk about top recruits, there is no better place to start than with the #1 recruit in the nation, athlete Conrad Peterson out of Missouri, who committed to Alabama last week. We know that Peterson will play on the offensive side of the ball, but where is a mystery, as he possesses elite skills to play both wide receiver and running back. Peterson also played quarterback in high school and could end up under center at Alabama for Nick Saban.
The #3 athlete and the #5 recruit in the nation, Mike Wilson, committed to Wisconsin early on. At 6'5" and 221 pounds, Wilson will most likely play tight end for the Badgers. Wisconsin made a huge recruiting splash when they convinced Wilson to stay in-state to play his college ball.
The third-ranked running back and the #8 recruit, Kyle Clark, announced his verbal commitment to Tennessee over the weekend, choosing the Vols over Notre Dame and Alabama. At 5'8" and 176 pounds, Clark is a little undersized, but can be compared to Oregon's De'Anthony Thomas in terms of skill and potential.
To round out the top 10, athlete Sean Bryant, the #9 recruit, has been committed to Ohio State since the preseason. Bryant, who will be playing defensive back, is one of the best defensive players in the country and a huge grab for Urban Meyer's Buckeyes.
Finally, the top ranked quarterback, 4-star Adam Hayford, announced his commitment to Oregon over the weekend. At 6'4" and 219 pounds, Mayford is almost a splitting image of current Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota. If Mariota declares for the draft after this year, expect Hayford to compete for the starting job right away.

With their 38-21 win over Maryland, Florida State moved to #7 in the Top 25 Poll, passing Oklahoma State and Alabama. Ohio State still occupies the #1 ranking and #2 Georgia, despite their close 37-34 overtime win over Tennessee, received 21 first-place votes.
Kansas State lost to #8 Oklahoma State, dropping them from #12 to #18 in this week's poll. North Carolina also fell to #24 after losing 30-17 at #12 Virginia Tech.
