Close Games, Loses Mar Season
Season Report Posted: March 10, 2021 00:54
Four last-minute losses dampened an otherwise solid season for NSU. In a season of close games, it will be the losses that stand out for the Prairie Dogs. NSU opened the season with a pair of four-point wins and a three-point win over Oregon. But a seven-point loss to Michigan was followed by even more heart-breaking losses. After taking the lead over UCLA with just 0:07 left, the Bruins were able to steal the win on a 37-yard hail mary. In the I-80 Showdown, NSU was driving for the win, but Nebraska took a pick-six to the house to ice a two-point win. Despite the conference losses, NSU was poised to win the West with an upset of Minnesota. But the upstart Porcupines of Wisconsin State ended that dream with a last-minute upset of the Prairie Dogs to earn its first win over NSU. The win made WSU bowl eligible and handed the West title to Minnesota. NSU would fall flat against Florida in the Gator Bowl with Myers tossing five interceptions in the 17-point loss. In all, NSU played in 10 games decided by seven points or less, losing four of them.
