Offense Explodes in Win over Cards
West Virginia's Offensive woes in there last game against Cincinnati now seem a distant memory. The Mountaineers rolled up 469 yards of total offense in route to a 37-14 rout of Louisville at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium on Saturday. Slot Back Jock Sanders ran for a career high 169 yards and three scores. Meanwhile the Mountaineers' balanced attack also produced another 294 yards through the air as Pat White finished 23 of 30 and one score.
Defensively WVU was led by J.T. Thomas' 7 tackles. Thomas also added a sack and spent most of the afternoon harrassing Cardinal quarterback Hunter Cantwell. The Mountaineer defense held U of L to just 74 yards on the ground. Louisville also didn't help itself much in committing 13 penalties on the day.
WVU returns to action next Friday at Pittsburgh in the annual Backyard Brawl vs Panthers. The game will be televised nationally on ABC.
