White Throws Eers Past Villanova

Quarterback Pat White threw for 237 Yards and 4 touchdowns to lead #8 West Virginia to a route over FCS Division Villanova on Saturday afternoon. In running new Coach Bill Stewart's offense, White looked every bit the Heisman candidate he is. White hit Alric Arnett twice in the games' first quarter for touchdowns. Then to start the second quarter he found Senior wideout Dorrell Jalloh on a 71 yard catch and run, and the route was on. White finished the day 15 for 18 without an interception.

The Mountaineer defense looked impressive in their season debut against a very undermanned Wildcat team. Pat Lazear returned a pick 33 yards for a score in the first quarter to set the tone for the remainder of the game. In all Villanova commited 4 turnovers and gained just 11 net yards on the ground all game.

WVU returns to action next Saturday at Greenville, NC when they take on the Pirates of East Carolina. Gametime is set for 3:30 and will be televised by ESPN.
