2014 Week 3

Ole Miss (0-1) is B- across the board. They are #90 in pts/gm, #85 in total offense, and #91 in total defense. We are #3 in pts/gm, #24 in total offense, and #2 in total defense. Weather: Clear.

Miss QB Smith throws a 59 yard TD pass to WR Cook and just :55 into the game it's 7-0 Rebels. On the ensuing possession HB Andre Justice gets into the open field with one man to beat. He tries to spin by him, but he's stripped of the ball. Miss FS Bolden scoops up the ball and outraces everyone to the endzone for a 45 yard TD, 14-0 M-I-SS-I-SS-I-PP-I. Hmm! HB Andrew Edwards goes in from 10 yards, 14-7. PR Clifton Williams returns a punt 66 yards for a TD, 14 all.

Miss K Robinson kicks a 47 yard FG, 17-14. Bama picks a pass in the endzone when the Miss QB tried to throw back across the field. QB Josh Smith returns the favor right back by throwing a pick. The Miss QB on the next play has RE Hunter Thomas right in his face and he gets rid of the ball. ROLB Josh King picks the pass and he's gone 85 yards for the score. 21-17. Huge play! QB Smith goes deep to WR Derrick Williams for a 61 yard TD pass, 28-17. K Jason Smith boots a 25 yarder near the end of the second quarter to make it 31-17 at the half.

QB Smith goes long to WR Teddy Johnson for an 80 yard TD pass, 38-17. K Smith boots a long 52 yard FG to bring it to 41-17. QB Smith sees the blitz and man coverage on the outside wheel route to WR Sam Fontaine, 48-17.

After pressure on him all day, the Miss QB cracks again and throws a pick to LOLB Dan Rix and he returns it 5 yards for a TD, 55-17. Miss QB Smith throws a 28 yard TD pass to WR Sims against the backups, 55-24. HB Maurice Gonzalez goes in from 2 yards out to end it 62-24.

Mississippi jumped out to a 14-0 lead and we had to settle down and play some catch up. The pick by ROLB Josh King and ensuing return for a TD totally changed this game. The Rebels never really recovered from that play.
