IT WAS A DONE DEAL WHEN
D.J. McPhearson got hurt more than a month ago and Tony Williams became our new QB. Seriously. Williams threw 5 more interceptions in a game that somehow stayed closer than it should've been. I think I'm finally finished with Williams. He doesn't protect the ball and we're at the point where he's clearly the biggest reason why our offense is so streaky. When we first went to Williams, we started running more and controlling the clock. That paid off. But over time, Williams has become more and more wild. He simply stopped protecting the ball, and he started running around and making risky throws.

GAME BALLS
ILB Leon Neal had our only sack and forced a couple fumbles. ... WR Alec Math, even with the instability at the QB spot, busted out for 189 yards and a TD on 12 catches. ... Sophomore QB Collier Winters relieved Tony Williams and played very strong ball (aided mostly by a couple lucky breaks with longer balls, mixed in with generally safer and shorter passes). Winters went 10/11 for 115 yards, 1 TD and no interceptions.

KEY STATISTICS
Columbia slammed the door shut on our rushing attack, which had been very good before this week. We managed 18 yards on 13 carries. ... Columbia forced 7 turnovers (5 picks, 2 fumbles).

NOTES
WR Alec Math set a new record for us with 12 catches in a single game. His 189 yards also set a new record. ... For the second year in a row, ILB Leon Neal recorded double-digit tackles against Columbia.
