IT WAS A DONE DEAL WHEN
Navy WR Mario Washington recovered and ran back the fumbled punt return by RB Demetrius Gadson. The score was tied, 14-14. We pinned them back at their goalline and forced the punt with 8 seconds left. We wanted a quick little return to hopefully set up one last jumpball into the endzone to try and win it. But Gadson fumbled it away, and their guy picked it up and ran in for a TD with no time left.

GAME BALLS
ILB Chris McCargo came to play, as we went in against the #8 rushing attack in the country. McCargo recorded 15 tackles (7 for a loss), 1 sack, 2 passes deflected and 2 fumbles forced. With ILB Leon Neal out with an injury early in the game, McCargo really stepped it up. ... HB Michael Clarke was also a big reason why we were in position to win this game. He picked up 178 yards rushing and 46 yards receiving, plus he scored our two touchdowns.

KEY STATISTICS
Navy came in with he 8th best rushing attack and we had the 16th best rushing defense. Even though we lost our best ILB with an injury early in the 1st half, we held them to only 110 yards. ... Tony Williams threw an incredible 7 interceptions. It's a new record for my QBs, besting D.J. McPhearson's 6-interception game against Rice in 2008.

NOTES
Chris McCargo's 15 tackles and 7 tackles for a loss set new records for our team. ... Michael Clarke's 178 yards rushing is good for 2nd on our all-time single game list. Only Charles Baakel's 188 yard outing in 2007, also against Navy, was better. ... This is the first time in Clarke's career he's posted back-to-back 100 yard rushing performances.
