IT WAS A DONE DEAL WHEN
Cornell forced 5 fumbles in the first half alone. They completely de-railed our offense. Our rushing attack got into a funk and never recovered from the slow start. We tried simple runs, we tried gadget plays, we tried option attacks -- nobody broke free and everybody fumbled the ball. Cornell forced 5 fumbles in the first half and then forced 5 more in the second half. It was unreal. We were never even in this game.
GAME BALLS
ILB Leon Neal put up 10 tackles and a sack. Not that it made much difference. ... DE Donald Faga dropped back into zone coverage and managed to make a leaping interception. Petty impressive for a 3-4 DE who weighs 270-something.
KEY STATISTICS
Cornell forced 8 turnovers. They picked off our QB twice, and they recovered 6 of the incredible 10 fumbles we had. ... Cornell got into our redzone 6 times, but only came away with 2 TDs and 1 FG down there. So the beating could've been even worse if the wheels hadn't fallen off inside the 20. ... Cornell surprisingly went for it on 4th down 3 times, despite having a comfortable lead for much of the day.
NOTES
QB Collier Winter's 21 completions rank 3rd among our single-game performances. ... Even though we're on a 4-game losing streak, ILB Leon Neal has been a bright spot. He's been named our Player of the Game in 3 of the last 4 games. And he's been Player of the Game for us 4 times on the season.
