Gators Tame Wildcats
It was a turnover filled fourth quarter for the Kentucky Wildcats that cost them the game against the #11 Florida Gators 38-26, ending the Wildcats six game winning streak.
"We kept up with them most of the game, but a couple fourth quarter drives resulted in us turning the ball over, and they capitalized," Coach Camp said.
The Gators led just 24-20 at the start of the fourth quarter, but with 5:23 remaining, Gators halfback Kestahn Moore would score a four yard TD. On Kentucky's very next drive, third-string halfback Tony Dixon fumbled for the second time, and just 13 seconds later Florida added another touchdown, taking the commanding 38-20 lead.
Kentucky still cannot figure out how to run without Rafael Little, and last week their back-up Alfonso Smith got hurt, so it was up to third-stringer Tony Dixon this week. Dixon rushed 12 times for 45 yards with two fumbles. Jarmon, a redshirted sophomore defensive end now has a team leading 10 sacks on the season, recording at least one sack in 7 out of 8 games this year.
One of the few bright spots on the Wildcats side was their very aggressive defense. Gators QB Cameron Newton was sacked a season high 5 times, three by Impact player Wesley Woodyard and Jeremy Jarmon had two.
Kentucky, who somehow moved down just one to #25 in the nation, will put this loss behind them and get ready for Mississippi State(2-6) next week.
