2007 Week 1

It was some combination of Kentucky Wildcats senior quarterback Andre Woodson's four interceptions, lack of a running game, a porous pass defense, and a ridiculous fourth quarter penalty that lifted the Ohio Bobcats to a surprising 24-20 win to open up the 2007 season.

Andre Woodson really had a tough time finding his rhythm in the first game of his senior year. He was picked off twice in the first quarter, leading to Ohio's swift 10-0 lead. Woodson and Ohio's quarterback Brad Bower would exchange touchdown strikes in the second quarter, and the Bobcats took a 24-14 lead into halftime.

The second half was fairly uneventful, as the only scoring was on a 55 yard fumble return by Wildcats cornerback Trevard Lindley late in the third quarter, but after a missed two point conversion, Kentucky still trailed by four.

Both teams would exchange punts in the fourth quarter, and with just one minute left in the game, the Wildcats burned their last timeout. Ohio lined up for a field goal, and the kick was wide right... but wait! Roughing the kicker penalty! So instead of Kentucky getting one more chance to take the lead with plenty of time left, the Bobcats get an automatic first down and then run out the clock.

"It's a tough loss, but what can you do. We didn't play that great, especially running the ball," an angry Coach J.Camp said.

Kentucky did have troubles establishing a solid running game, but that can be attributed to the fact that they trailed most of the contest. Rafael Little rushed just 12 times for 46 yards.

The Wildcats hope to rebound next week when they host Kent State(0-1).
