Spartans Finish WAC play at 8-0

The San Jose State Spartans finished their regular season Saturday defeating the slow and overmatched Idaho Vandals by a score of 42-7. In doing so the Spartans finished WAC league play at a perfect 8-0.

"I am very proud of how our football team played this season," Coach Williams said, "we really struggled out of the game, but we have won the past nine games and to me that is amazing. These players are really playing with heart and it shows out on the field. They look amazing out their, it makes me proud to be their head football coach."

Had the Spartans been able to make one tackle on a third quarter punt return by the Vandals they would have shut out a team that has struggled to do anything all season long.

"I really wish we got the shutout, but I will take what we got." Coach Williams said, "In the end it is a win and that's all we care about. I told the team earlier this season, 'i don't care if it's ugly, lucky or pretty..I just want a win'. Since then that's all we have done. It's a great feeling."

Now San Jose State will sit at home and wait to see who they will take on in the bowl season. They will also see where they will be going. Right now all fingers point to Boise and the MPC Computers bowl.
