Spartans Sta Hot, Streak Reaches Eight

After having a week off to rest and relax the San Jose State Spartans were back on the field, this time facing a New Mexico State Aggies team that has struggled to win all season. It showed on the field as the Spartans were able to beat the Aggies by a score of 37-27.

"I thought we played an all around solid football game," Coach Williams said, "We are really starting to get our identity on both sides of the football and really starting to understand the small things. We have been cutting down on turnovers and by doing that we continue to win football games. It hasn't always been perfect or even pretty, but as long as we are winning football games I will continue to be a happy football coach."

Quarterback Bryan Holland threw for 342 yards and five touchdowns. The big stat, however, was he only threw one interception. He continues to improve in the passing game and when he has a solid passing day the Spartans offense is tough to stop.

New Mexico State played a lot better than their record indicated scoring 27 points against a weak Spartans defense. However, the Aggies who have the second worst defense only gave up 37 points, many thought they would give up at least 50 points. However, it still wasn't enough to win.

The Spartans next week will end their regular season as they travel to take on the worst WAC team, the Idaho Vandals.
