San Jose State Loses Third in a Row, Holland

The San Jose State Spartans remained winless Saturday as they were blown out by the Stanford Cardinal by a score of 48-15. Backup Bryan Holland was also lost for at least a month as he suffered an abdominal tear when he came in for starter Graham Everson who was playing terribly at the time.

"Bryan was really hurting after the game," Coach Williams said, "I was told it was a tear, but we wont know until we can fully evaluate the situation tomorrow. It's a very tough blow to us at this juncture of the season as we try to find our identity on offense. We'll bounce back though, Graham is ready to take over the team as the leader. I think we'll be OK."

One positive of this loss was the Spartans were able to cut down on their excessive turnovers, turning the football over only two times. Both of the turnovers were due to fumbles.

Graham Everson commented after the game on his terrible passing percentage so far this season, "I am doing my best out their. I really don't know what is going on. The ball comes out and it feels good and it will just drift on me or fall short. All I know is I am continue to work on my game and better our chances of winning. I am doing everything I can."

Coach Williams has been visibly frustrated with the play of his quarterbacks all but blaming them for the struggling offensive play. "It's hard to get your offense going when you're a passing team and you can't get the pass game going. Our running game struggles due to this and as you can see we get blown out, believe me it's frustrating, I've never been in this situation, it really takes a lot out of you. I don't believe in failing though so we will turn it around. We have a big game next week at home against Cincinnati before we start league play, I have a feeling we will be well prepared for the ballgame."
