The ULM War Hawks finished their greatest season in school history with a perfect 14-0 (9-0) record and Rose Bowl and Conference-USA titles under their belt. Jim Youngblood led the team to the promise-land with 26 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions as well as 3 rushing touchdowns. Carl Elie and Luther Ambrose contributed on the ground with 9 team rushing touchdown, 5 from Elie and 4 from Ambrose. The War Hawks did a much better job this year spreading the ball around through the air. Clifton Sims led the receivers with 4 touchdowns followed by David Soltis with 3 receiving touchdowns. Redshirted Junior Trevor Green set the school record for interceptions in a season with 9 picks, shattering the old record of 7. With Luther Ambrose missing the season Carl Elie filled in his shoes tremendously as he and Jim Youngblood led the team to a perfect regular season record and the Conference-USA title. The War Hawks were then placed at #3 in the nation and were pitted against #16 Michigan in the Rose Bowl. Monroe slammed the Wolverines to the floor winning 31-2 and ending their season at #2 in the nation. The War Hawks look to have a big offseason and bring in top notch recruits. ULM also received an invitation to replace Vanderbilt in the SEC East and will now play in the toughest conference in college football. The War Hawks look to repeat their success and look as if they will do so next season.

Season Report Posted: September 27, 2008 13:48
The UL-Monroe Warhawks have started the season off great and are off to a 6-0 (3-0) year. The success started with a 35-7 win in the season opener over FCS East and followed by a 28-14 win in a rivalry game at UL-Lafayette to move to 2-0. The Warhawks then had a big game against Penn State who were just outside the Top 25. The Warhawks won amazingly off an interception return for a touchdown by SS Ryan White. The Warhawks had their conference opener against the Rice Owls. When the game looked to be going into overtime, David Soltis returned a kickoff for a touchdown to end the game and give Monroe their first conference win of the year. The Warhawks then had two more conference games and won both with game-winning field goals from Chaz Bell against SMU and Marshall. The Warhawks are now ranked 16th in the nation, but lost starting RB Luther Ambrose to a partially torn MCL and will go the rest of the year with Carl Elie at Runningback. Jim Youngblood has thrown 8 touchdowns with only 3 interceptions and also has a rushing touchdown. Carl Elie has 3 touchdowns and will split the load with Patrick Martindale who is the future of the Warhawks at runningback. The Warhawks currently stand at #16 in the nation and hope to improve upon that and crack the Top 10.
