Season Wrap-Up

January 8, 2026

Season Report Posted: March 02, 2009 23:00

The ULM Warhawks are BCS National Champions for the 6th time in history! The Warhawks got back to the promise land this year. The second half of their season started with scare against South Carolina, but ULM still came out on top 24-21. The Warhawks followed up with a serious of blowout wins. They beat Georgia Tech 28-13 in a big recruiting game. The next game was #2 ULM @ #3 Florida. The buildup for this game was unreal, almost guarenteeing a spot in a big bowl game, but Florida did not show up and ULM took advantage, trouncing the Gators 37-14 in the Swamp. ULM then defeated Kentucky 52-21 and then got a key conference win 28-7 against the Tennessee Volunteers. The final regular season game was an exciting one as ULM barely edged out the Michigan Wolverines to finish a perfect 12-0 regular season heading into the Conference Championship Week against LSU. LSU was deemed definite underdog as they were 4-4 in conference compared to the perfect 8-0 of Monroe. The Tigers showed tougher than expected but still fell short of the SEC title, losing to ULM 35-25 and giving the Warhawks a spot in the National Title Game. They were back. The Warhawks were back in the BCS National Title Game, this time against the #2 Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Notre Dame got up early but ULM came back and went past the Irish without stopping. Heisman Winner Kevin Williams led the offense with 4 rushing touchdowns in his last college game. LE Ross White took home a record in the title game. White had 2 sacks in the game, which put him at 46 sacks all time. The previous record was 44 and White took it home in his last game in college. The Warhawks won their 6th national title in a very short span of time. One more and coach Charlie Weatherbie will hold the record for most titles in a coaching career. 2026 is not so far away.

Mid-Season Report

October 18, 2025

Season Report Posted: March 01, 2009 18:35

After being snubbed from the title game in 2024, ULM is looking to show the BCS Pollers that they are title material and have certainly done so with an excellent 6-0 start in 2025. The #2 Warhawks have showed that they are one of the best with an LMV (Lowest Margin of Victory) of 21 against SEC opponenets. Monroe started out the season with a game against the Hawaii Warriors and came out on top in a close 24-21 win. Heading into Week 3, the Warhawks were set to open their season in the SEC with a game against well-rounded SEC rival Auburn. ULM blew the Tigers out of the water with a 42-21 victory, showing they are a force to be reckoned with in the SEC. The Warhawks followed with another 21 point conference win against Ole Miss, winning 35-14 heading into an early bye week. Week 6 was a game that historically should look easy, but this season Mississippi State was looking good with a 4-0 start, but when the Warhawks came into town, they showed no mercy, trouncing the Bulldogs 28-3. ULM followed up with a rivalry win over Louisiana Tech and a key conference shutout against Georgia 28-0. Monroe is currently #2 in the polls behind only Penn State, the team that somehow made the title game over them a year ago. Revenge shall be great for the Warhawks.
