The 2020 UL-Monroe Warhawks are SEC and National Champions for the 2nd year in a row. The Warhawks we're poised to succeed starting at #2 in the Coaches poll and starting off with a 6-0 record, demolishing every team they came up against. The 2nd half of the season started off with a 56-27 blowout to South Carolina, a team who normally gives the Warhawks trouble but hasn't recently. The Warhawks then went into Western Kentucky and gave the Hilltoppers no chance, winning 45-3. The Warhawks then had their true test of the season so far. The #4 Florida Gators were ready to knock the #2 Warhawks down and take control of the SEC East. The Gators looked good on their first drive but were shut down for the rest of the game losing 21-7 to the Hawks. The Warhawks were then set to clinch a spot in the SEC title game with one more conference win, and only Kentucky stood in their way. The Warhawks went up north to Kentucky and wrecked the Wildcats 31-10, clinching the conference title game. Going into week 13, the Warhawks were ready to battle division rival Tennessee. Before the game every player and student on the Monroe campus was watching the #1 Michigan vs. #10 Ohio State game. Michigan's D didn't show up giving the Buckeyes a magnificent upset and setting the stage for the Warhawks to move up to #1 in the nation. Tennessee proved themselves to be the Warhawks only legitimate test this season as the Warhawks escaped with a narrow 35-32 victory at home, moving themselves up to the top of the nation. The Warhawks finished their season with a 56-14 blowout over UTEP and then were to rematch Auburn in the SEC title game. Auburn did not show any ability to match the talent of the Monroe squad as they were shut down 31-10 and Monroe grabs their 5th SEC title. Finally, the biggest game of the season was here. For the first time in Monroe's school history they were ranked #1 heading into the BCS National Title Game against #2 Virginia Tech, the current ACC champs. The Warhawks started out strong with a 10-0 lead but the Hokies slowly trudged back and tied the game with no time left to send the National Championship game to overtime. The Hokies took the ball first and were stopped short on 3rd and 1 and were forced to kick a field goal to go up 13-10 in OT. Then on Monroe's first play, Henry Kane showed why he won the Heisman Trophy by breaking a 25 yard touchdown run to win the Warhawks back-to-back National Championships and their 4th title in 6 seasons. The Warhawks were led by Sophomore QB Craig Moore who finished with 14 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. ULM showed rushing dominance for the first time ever with Junior RB Henry Kane, the best runningback to come through the school. Kane racked up 2104 rushing yards, 32 TD's, and with a 9.3 YPC average. He also had 21 receptions for 329 yards and 6 touchdowns. Kane won the Heisman Memorial Trophy, the Maxwell Award, the Doak Walker Award, as well as the Randy Moss Award. Kane set school records with 75 career rushing TD's, 32 rushing TD's in a season, 4730 rushing yards in a career, and 2104 rushing yards in a season. He set the national record for longest touchdown run at 97 yards as well as the most rushing touchdowns in a career at 75. Kane will return for his senior season and will continue to dominate the nation on the ground. The #1 Warhawks will continue to be dominant on the ground and in the air in 2021 as they will look to continue their success as they havn't lost in 33 straight games.

ULM has started out higher than ever at #2 in the nation in the preseason polls, only sitting behind Michigan. The Warhawks started out the season away at NC State. The Warhawks wrapped up an easy win 28-7, with Henry Kane leading the way. The Warhawks then held their home opener against conference opponent Auburn. After starting slow the Warhawks held their own and stomped the Tigers 31-10 heading into a game against ranked opponent Ole Miss. So much for rankings as ULM got their biggest win so far this year 45-16. Henry Kane picked up 4 total touchdowns: 1 receiving, 1 returning, and 2 rushing. After a bye week the Warhawks went into an easier game against Mississippi State. SO(RS) QB Craig Moore looked awfully shaky throwing 0 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, but thanks to Heisman hopeful Henry Kane, who managed to get 205 yards and 2 touchdowns rushing, the Warhawks came out on top 20-6. The Warhawks then squared off against #18 Arizona State and manhandled them 21-7 going into Georgia. The Bulldogs pulled away early 10-0, but then on 2 key drives and an interception for a touchdown from Kyle Elliot, the Warhawks swung their momentum in order to come out on top 34-17. The Warhawks now face the South Carolina Gamecocks at home and will look to keep their title hopes alive.
